Checking Your Online Presence
UPDATE: The original list of sites below is where we started with helping agents check their online presence because consistency was super important and making sure your profiles and bio were accurate was good for search engine optimization….i,e, search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc could read the information about you and deliver it in searches. AI Search has entered the scene, and here is where things get interesting because AI can only read certain data.
Read Did You Know AI Can’t See You? here.
Have you ever Googled yourself and then asked AI about yourself?
For years, I’ve talked about the importance of SEO — because showing up in search has always mattered.
But after taking a deep dive into AI-driven search with partners at Lofty, Jason Pantana, and Drew Thompson, I can say this with confidence:
What used to be nice-to-have is now non-negotiable.
AI Isn’t Searching Like You Think
AI doesn’t scroll your Instagram, read your About page, or browse Zillow listings like a potential client.
It scans data.
It looks for patterns, consistency, and credibility — and if your information doesn’t line up across platforms, you’re invisible.
Your brokerage profile says one thing.
Your Google Business listing says another.
And your social media bios? Totally different again.
AI doesn’t know which version of you to trust… so it skips you altogether.
Consistency Is the New Credibility
This goes deeper than SEO keywords.
AI search is all about structured data — and when your profiles don’t match, you lose trust signals.
You want to be sure to update your profile across as many platforms as possible so that your information online is consistent. From an SEO standpoint, it really does have an impact! To help get you started, here are a few sites to check and update- along with notes to make it as easy as possible. We have linked to the sites where possible(some are just for our local members).
Broker Sites:
Your local MLS, regional MLS
RMLS (Oregon + Washington if applicable)

"Save & Continue" as you update each section.
Note, "Zip Codes You Serve" has a limit of 10 zip codes.
Login, scroll down to the bottom left, and click "Dashboard" and scroll down to "View Account" to edit your profile
You can link your Zillow and Realtor.com profiles here, too.
You will likely need to use your short bio for this site, although it doesn't indicate a text restriction.
You can exclude cities and zip codes, but the system doesn't allow you to add cities or zipcodes; however, that is just for internal purposes. Their system assigns referrals to you based on your recorded sales on Zillow so make sure that is up to date.
List of Top Producing agents, not everyone will appear and no profile to edit per se.
Check with your brokerage to see if they report to Real Trends
Can sync your "Recent Sales" with your Zillow account (this should sync your Zillow reviews as well)
You can add up to 100 "Service Areas" but must enter using zip code, not city
"Total Sales Last Year" has to be manually entered under "Personal Details" when you edit your profile.
Lead Generation sites to which you subscribe
Home Finders:
Email address should match MLS email you use or data may not feed through correctly
Click on your photo then click "Profile" and "Edit" at the top of that screen to make any updates.
Be sure to add "Service Areas" under the "Agent Info" section of the profile edit section.
From the profile screen, you can also request a "Request a Review" and either input information to send from Zillow or select "Copy and paste direct link" to get your review link to use as needed.
On the left-hand side under "Profile", scroll to "Manage Profile" and make any edits.
Then scroll to "Recommendations" and you can manually add reviews. You need a name/initials, date, testimonial, and to identify them as a buyer, seller, etc. Save the recommendation, then scroll to the bottom of the recommendations and "Approve this recommendation" for each one added.
You can also click on "Profile" > "Ratings & reviews" and then "Request a new review". From there, you have to add information for the transaction and client, and then it sends from Realtor.com.
Click on photo and scroll to "Account Settings".
There is no way to update your company or company logo in the back end; if this is incorrect, reach out to Support@homes.com to update.
Socials:
AI uses Reddit a lot as a source
Log in, click your photo or avatar and click "Settings" then scroll through tabs to update or customize settings (specifically - Account, Profile, etc.).
Changing your display name won’t change your username.
You will need to verify your phone number if you add it to your account.
Your "About" description is limited to 200 characters so you may need to cut down your short bio even further to fit.
You can choose an Avatar and customize it or upload your headshot as your profile pic.
For a Banner image, consider using a house or your logo.
Do NOT toggle on "Mark as mature" or "NSFW".
You have the option to toggle on or off your follower count.
Search Engines and Review Sites:
Google yourself > "Your business on Google" will pop up at the top > "Edit Profile".
You need to verify your address for edits to stick.
Click photo > "Account Settings" to change photo and/or email then click "Back to Yelp Home".
Some of the tabs on the left side can only be completed with a paid account like "Logo", "Portfolio", "Business Highlights", "License Verification", "Call to Action" (each are approx $1-$2/day).
Click "Business Information". Note you can add up to 6 service areas and they must be within 100 miles of your business address.
On the right-hand side, you can update your address, phone number, and website.
Click photo > "My Profile" > "Edit Profile" or "Add business page"
Need a Yahoo email to create an account.
