I didn’t learn this from a book. I learned it from a diagnosis.
For years, I built what everyone would call a successful real estate business. 34 years. 1,600 homes sold. A $100M+/year business built from the ground up. And underneath all of it — a business that depended almost entirely on me.
Then I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.
The illness wasn’t the turning point. The clarity was.
For the first time, I stopped asking how to grow faster. I started asking what happens if I can’t physically show up tomorrow. I realized I’d spent years climbing a ladder that was leaning against the wrong wall.
I had built success. I hadn’t built freedom.
And here’s the part that might sound familiar: I was already the systems person. I’d been on the systems bandwagon my whole career — always leveraging the next thing. I still became the bottleneck. Still responsible for too many things. Still the one the business couldn’t run without.
The problem was never the systems. It was what they were all built around: me.
So I buckled down on the business architecture and redesigned it — so income was not completely dependent on my own sales production. A business that runs when I’m not there. Today I run a sales team, two companies, and a coaching business — and none of them need me every hour to survive.
The Studio is that redesign, turned into a program. You shouldn’t need a diagnosis to get the clarity.
