The Best Inaction Ever Taken: How Real Estate Agents Can Stop Overthinking and Start Gaining Clarity
There seems to be something in the air right now. Could be the time of year, could be the market, or it could just be the cycle of seasons in business. A lot of agents that I coach came to me this week feeling a little antsy!
In real estate, like the weather, there are four seasons I often talk about: slammed, slow down, silent, and shift. Each one brings a unique rhythm—and a different set of emotions.
The emotions we experience at different times in our lives and businesses affect our ability to move forward. I get it. We can become our own worst enemy, and honestly, often just need to get out of our own way.
The Greatest Inaction Ever
Here’s my best advice and the greatest inaction ever: Don’t overthink it.
Just don’t overthink any of it. Like the progression of winter, spring, summer, or fall—the weather will change.
Now, don’t get me wrong—I’m not saying you should do nothing and wait for success to land in your lap. That would go against everything I believe in!
What I am saying is that you might just need to cut yourself some slack.
Give yourself permission to step back, take a breath, and get out of your own head. Overthinking often leads to confusion, unnecessary busywork, and even burnout. Don’t do that.
What to Do Instead
Instead of getting lost in a sea of what-ifs—the market shift, the slow season, or the exhaustion that comes from doing too much—lean into it.
Take a pause to regroup.
Surround yourself with people who nudge you to learn, innovate, and see things differently.
Spend time in rooms that excite you, stretch you, and bring you clarity.
Overthinking won’t help you get your business mojo back.
In fact, it can paralyze your progress faster than anything else.
A Final Thought
Sometimes the best thing you can do isn’t to force it—it’s to create space for clarity.
Cheers to gaining freedom from your own limiting thoughts and giving yourself the grace to pause when needed.
