The Best Inaction Ever Taken
There seems to be something in the air right now. Could be the time of year, could be the market, or it could just be the cycle of seasons in business. A lot of agents that I coach came to me this week feeling a little antsy!
In real estate, like the weather, there are four seasons I often talk about: slammed, slow down, silent, and shift. A whole range of emotions comes with each of these seasons—much like the weather, right? The emotions we experience at different times of the year, or stages of our lives, seasons of our business can affect our ability to move forward. I get it! We can become our own worst enemy and honestly, often just need to get out of our own way.
The Greatest Inaction Ever
Here’s my best advice and the greatest “inaction” ever: Don’t overthink it. Just don’t overthink any of it. Like the progression of winter, spring, summer, or fall, the weather will change.
Now, don’t get me wrong—I’m not saying you should do nothing and wait for whatever comes your way. That would go against everything I believe in! What I am saying is that you might just need to cut yourself some slack. Give yourself permission to get out of your own head. Overthinking often leads to confusion or unnecessary busywork. Don’t do that!
What to Do Instead
Instead of getting lost in a sea of overthinking the market shift, a slow down in your business, or exhaustion from overworking, lean into it. Take a pause to regroup. Surround yourself with people who nudge you to learn and do things differently. Spend time in rooms that excite you and give you a new perspective.
Overthinking isn’t going to help you get your business mojo back. In fact, it can incapacitate you more than anything else.
A Final Thought
Sometimes the best thing you can do is not force it, but create space for clarity.
Cheers to gaining freedom from your own limiting thoughts!
