7 Day Sprint

Working in Sprints

Give a good real estate agent a home that needs a deep clean, rooms painted, landscaping refreshed, a new doormat, pressure washing, tree trimming, 26 lightbulbs changed, staging, photos—basically everything—and we’ll have it on the market in 7 days. No problem!

But hand that same agent the task of organizing their database, writing a monthly newsletter, getting a website up, drafting job descriptions, or creating SOPs for the team, and suddenly… crickets. Let’s be real—some of that stuff may never get done!

I get it. There are a few reasons this happens:

  • We can’t all be good at everything (that’s just life), but it’s important to recognize these gaps and take action.

  • We naturally avoid the stuff we dread—which is why many agents lack the systems and structure they need.

  • Real estate is a reactive sport! Clients need us when they’re ready, so we jump.

Here’s My Challenge: Start Working in 7-Day Sprints

“Productivity is never an accident. It’s the result of commitment, smart planning, and focused effort.” – Paul J. Meyer
(Side note: if you don’t know Paul, look him up! He’s a goal-setting legend.)

Here’s How I Run My 7-Day Sprints

Every Monday, my team meets to go over pending deals, upcoming listings, active clients, and new leads. We map out what needs to happen to move the needle on each one, then assign tasks to the right person.

We also talk about bigger projects from our business plan and block time to actually make progress. It’s all about being intentional—knowing what we want to achieve each week and carving out the time to do it.

Sometimes, for an entire week, I’ll forward my calls to a team member, set up auto-responders for emails and texts, and lock in on a bigger project. And I do this unapologetically. Running a better business is good for everyone—your team and your clients.

During those Monday meetings, we’re setting ourselves up for productivity—not just being busy. There’s a big difference—don’t confuse the two! We set goals and make sure we’re hitting them. The best part? The following Monday, we get to celebrate our wins from the previous week and see our progress as a team.

For the Solo Agents Out There

This totally works for you too! Start your week by mapping out what needs to happen and what bigger project you want to tackle. Block time in your calendar to work on it. Turn off your phone, close your email, and stay focused.

And if you’re thinking, “I’m not even sure what my big projects are. I’ve got so many loose ends,” start by making a list! Write down everything you need to get done, and post it where you can see it. Tackle one thing at a time. With business planning season right around the corner, it’s a great time to get your “buckets” organized.

By the way—we’re hosting a free business planning workshop in November. Want to join us in person or virtually? Click here to sign up.

Oh… one more thing: we’re currently looking for a few more agents for our national sales team. If you know anyone looking to make a move, we’d love to connect.
